How it works
A Just Eat-style ordering system for a small food business, running on its own website, with the kitchen in control of every order. This demo uses a fictional kitchen, Ty Bryn Kitchen, so you can try everything.
The customer orders from their phone
No app, no account. They pick items or a per-person catering package, give a name and a number, and tick one box if anyone has an allergy or intolerance.
The kitchen screen rings
A tablet in the kitchen shows the order within a couple of seconds and chimes until someone looks at it. If the connection drops, the screen says so loudly and keeps checking.
One tap to accept, with a prep time
The kitchen taps 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, or confirms the catering slot. Rejecting takes one tap and a plain reason.
The customer's page updates by itself
"Kitchen accepted — ready about 12:20." No refresh, no text message needed. It updates again when the order is ready.
Labels print for each item
"ORDER 122 · Breakfast bap + Bacon + Egg · MEGAN". Every label carries the line "Contents as ordered — not an allergen label", because it is an order identifier, not a safety declaration.
Money moves only when the kitchen says yes
Card orders are authorised at order time and captured on accept. A rejected order releases the hold: no refund, no fee. Catering is invoiced to the company with a PO number, on terms set per customer.
Why allergies are a phone call, not a text box
Made-to-order kitchens handle allergies by talking to the customer. This system keeps that. The order form asks one yes-or-no question. A yes puts the order into a “call the customer” state that the kitchen cannot accept until they have rung. Nothing about the allergy is typed, stored, printed or passed to a prep sheet. That is a deliberate safety and insurance decision, not a missing feature.
